Organizations
Youth Coordinating Committee
The Youth Coordinating committee was formed in 2002 to coordinate the activities of the many youth based
organizations in the Parish. A Youth Coordinator was appointed to head the committee and report to the Parish Council.
Youth Group
The Youth group was in existence when St. Kizito's was attached to St. Theresa's Paris . In recent years the group has developed links with other parish youth groups both in Gambia and Senegal . The Group have a farming project at Kunkujang Mariama.
St Kizito's Choir
The Choir was founded by Pierre Month Mendy and when the Church was built. In 2001 Augustine Diouf was invited to come from Senegal to take over as Choir Master. The Choir stage a number of concerts each year and have an annual visit to choirs in
neighboring Senegal.
The Church Lectors
Founded when the Church was blessed in 1992, this group
has taken up the mantle to proclaim the Word of God with
vigour. The group, headed by Mrs. Martha Mendy, collaborates
with other organisations in the parish to
The Junior Choir
The junior choir developed out of a growing need . The members is been drawn from young members of the parish community.
St. Kizito's Altar Servers
The Altar servers group draws its membership from boys and young men in the parish. The servers meet each Saturday morning to plan the Sunday Liturgy.
St. Kizito's Usher Group
The User group was formed in 2003. Since their foundation they have taken their role very seriously. Each Sunday they marshal the attendance at Church.
The ushers have organised a n umber of major fundraising events for the Church. Last Christmas they had a successful Carol Singing tour raising money to refurbish the Church seating.
The Legion of Mary
The Legion of Mary are represented by three Presidia in the Parish. The Senior Legion groups is made up of adult Gambians. They meet Fridays at 5 pm . The Junior Legion gathers the children and young people of the Parish. They meet Sundays after the 10 am Mass. The English speaking members of the community who do not speak a local language decided to form their own presidium who meet Sundays after the 10 am Mass.
The Legion of Mary have worked hard to evangelize. Part of their ministry is to visit compounds in the community. This visitation has resulted in a huge number of people returning to active parish life.
Catholic Charismatic Renewal
A recently formed group, they meet Sundays for prayer and praise and Thursdays for Bible study.
St. Kizito's Nigerian Community
The Nigerian Community who join the parish assembly for Eucharist formed an
organization to address the need of Nigerians who live within the boundaries of the Parish.
St. Kizito's Catholic Women's Association (CWA)
The association was formed to bring together the Catholic Women of the Parish. The group meet regularly and work to fundraise for the parish.
St Kizito's Nursery School
The nursery school officially opened its doors to the first class in September 2003. The idea of the building a school came for an Irish Priest, Fr. John O'Reilly, who had ministered in the Gambia . Funding to build the school came from the Transition Years Students of Gorey Community School, Wexford , Ireland . The students continue to support the school by paying the teachers salary as well as giving a recent donation to build furniture for the school.
Young Faithful Christians:
A group formed from the 2007 confirmation class at St.
Kizito's. The Confirmation Class decided to try to stay
together with a view to increasing the knowledge of their
faith while doing apostolic work throughout the parish. The
chairman of the newly formed group, Monjama Rogers, hopes
that this group of young people who spent two years together
preparing for confirmation will continue to journey together
in their quest for a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.
